Long-Term Substitute - Science bei Join Delaware Schools Consortium

Position:  Substitute -  9th Grade Science

Location:  Sussex Technical High School  

Reports To:  Principal/Assistant Principal 

Starting Date:  Fall 2025

Qualifications:   

• Minimum education of High School diploma required. 

• Previous experience working with high school students preferred.  
• ?Certification as high school Social Studies Teacher preferred.

Performance Responsibilities: 

• Fill in for teacher during their absence. 

• Follow lesson plan provided by teacher.  

• Grade all material and assign grades.   
• ?Employ sound student management techniques to ensure classroom is safe and efficient.  

• Report attendance and other record keeping as indicated in lesson plans.  

• Collaborate with other teachers to ensure that lesson plan is delivered appropriately.  

• Be flexible to move from one assignment to another during the school day.  

• Follow all school policies and procedures.    

• Other duties as assigned.  

Terms of Employment: At-will position.  Substitutes are not employees of the school district but rather work on a day-to-day basis as needed.   Substitutes are contacted on a daily basis to fill in for teachers and paraprofessionals.    

Salary and Benefits: Non-benefit eligible position.  Compensation is recorded in a half-days or full-days.   Compensation depends upon level of education, teacher certification, retirement status, and length of substitution assignment.    

Certified Teacher Rate:   $179.00/day
Retired Teacher Rate:   $200.00/day
Long-Term Certified Teacher rate:  $230.00/day
