The Vice President of Brand Marketing is a senior leader responsible for elevating the brand’s creative direction while ensuring seamless marketing execution across national campaigns, digital platforms, and retail channels. Acting as both a creative guide and operational leader, this role brings together design, merchandising, and marketing strategy to strengthen brand presence and drive growth in every market. 

The VP will partner closely with the CMO to translate vision into execution, manage cross-functional teams, and ensure every brand touchpoint from packaging and retail displays to digital activations reflects the company’s identity and resonates with consumers while managing a team of brand and marketing experts. This role will by hybrid with time in our Portland HQ each week.

 

In this role you will: 

  • Partner with the design team to evolve the brand’s look and feel for 2026 and beyond across packaging, retail, print and digital
  • Help define and maintain the brand’s creative expression, ensuring consistency and cannabis culture relevance
  • Provide hands-on creative direction to the Design team, ensuring high-quality creative output
  • Guide development of design systems, visual identity, and scalable asset libraries within Figma and other parts of the Design team's tech stack
  • Serve as final approver for major creative deliverables, balancing brand integrity with business objectives
  • Partner with the Director of Marketing and Sales Leadership to build and execute national brand campaigns and market-specific initiatives
  • Oversee integrated marketing across digital, retail merchandising, field activations, and partnerships
  • Support digital strategy with baseline understanding of email marketing and customer lifecycle flows
  • Collaborate with the Digital Media & Web Manager on campaign execution, audience segmentation, and analytics
  • Ensure campaigns are culturally relevant, data-driven, and deliver measurable ROI
  • Lead and mentor the Director of Marketing, Senior Print Manager (Creative Lead), Digital Media & Web Manager, and extended team members
  • Elevate the Senior Print Manager to act as day-to-day leader for the Design team, ensuring collaboration and creative consistency
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and growth mindset
  • Implement scalable processes for campaign planning, creative approvals, and reporting
  • Align with Sales Leadership to deliver retailer-focused marketing strategies and activations
  • Work closely with Compliance to ensure packaging and messaging meet regulatory standards
  • Partner with Finance on budget allocation, forecasting, and campaign ROI tracking 

  

You’ll be a great fit if you have the following: 

  • You have 8+ years of experience in brand marketing, creative direction, or integrated marketing leadership (CPG, lifestyle, or cannabis preferred). 
  • You have strong creative sensibility with experience directing brand identity, campaigns, and packaging 
  • You have a baseline understanding of digital strategy, particularly email marketing flows, segmentation, and lifecycle campaigns 
  • Your experience with marketing tools such as Klaviyo, Mailchimp, or similar platforms a strong plus 
  • You have a proficiency in design tools such as Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, and Microsoft Excel 
  • You have a deep contextual knowledge of industry trends, retail merchandising, digital strategy, retail marketing, and brand strategy 
  • You are skilled in balancing creativity with operational rigor and business performance 
  • You have a strong leadership presence with experience managing multi-disciplinary teams 
  • You have a growth mindset and believe in embraces change, innovation, and continuous learning 
  • You demonstrate integrity and respect in all interactions, fostering a positive and supportive work environment.

Interview Process:  

At Grön, we go through the same interview steps for all VP, Brand candidates to ensure equity in our hiring process. Our process is designed to learn as much about each candidate as possible, as well as give candidates access to our team and hear what it's like to work with us

This position has a salary of $165,000
