Position Summary
Stewards are responsible for washing dishes, glassware, flatware, pots and pan and cleaning all food preparation and other kitchen areas and equipment. They are also responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of the BOH and FOH spaces in accordance with new standards. These roles work in close collaboration with management and must adhere to established health and safety standards.
Responsibilities
Dishwashing & Sanitation:
- Clean all food preparation areas and equipment
- Place clean dishes, glassware and utensils in racks or in storage areas
- Remove trash, recycling and used linens and place in designated areas
- Sweep and scrub floors and mats
- Clean and sanitize garbage cans and receptacles
- Clean dish storage
- Clean up broken dishes and glassware and spills immediately
- Wash dishes, glassware, flatware, pots and pan, by hand or using a dishwashing machine using extra care to not break the dishes.
- Load and unload washing machines
- Maintain kitchen work areas and equipment and utensils in a clean, orderly condition.
- Perform open, closing and side work
- Abide by sanitation, health and company guidelines concerning safety and cleanliness
- Adhere to grooming, conduct and uniform standards
- Cleaning the common areas and bathrooms as needed
Team Support:
- Attend meetings and trainings as requested, including pre-shift meetings
- Assist with training of new staff
- Check out with Sous chef / CDC / or MOD before completing shift
- Proper use of chemicals as per standards set by Executive Chef or VOM
- Refill plates and utensils or the line and to the events team
- Collection of dirty pots, pans, dishes, and equipment from the line and events team
- Be willing to help with bulk prep
- Be willing to help receive and put away orders / deliveries
- Ability to assist and produce quality family meal for the team
Qualifications
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays based on event timing.
- Excellent stamina, energy and focus required
- Team attitude with ability to work well with others and dedication to team success
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Prior kitchen experience preferred
- Anticipation of team needs and sense of urgency preferred
- Adaptability and ability to think on your feet
- Ability to work quickly and with great accuracy
- Strong work ethic
- Highly organized and systematic in work
Essential Duties
- Ability to stand, walk and carry for prolonged periods of time
- Ability to bend, stoop and lift at least 25-50 pounds
- Proficiency in English preferred
Pay
- Starting at $18.00+/hr
