Schedule: Monday – Friday, 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM

Position Summary

We are seeking a Kitchen Aide to join our Senior Community Center team. This role supports the daily operation of the kitchen by preparing meals, maintaining inventory, and ensuring that our food service meets health and safety standards. The ideal candidate is dependable, detail-oriented, and passionate about serving older adults in a welcoming community setting.


Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with daily food preparation and meal service in compliance with DFTA (Department for the Aging) nutrition guidelines and NYSDOH (New York State Department of Health) standards.

  • Wash, sanitize, and store dishes, pots, pans, and utensils.

  • Maintain a clean and organized kitchen, following sanitation and cleaning schedules.

  • Prepare fruits, vegetables, salads, and desserts for daily meals.

  • Provide necessary supplies (paper goods, utensils) to volunteers.

  • Assist with post-lunch cleanup and overall kitchen upkeep.

  • Provide coverage at other sites as needed.

  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support program operations.

  • Meet and maintain agency-wide performance standards.


Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.

  • At least 1 year of food service experience preferred, especially in a similar setting.

  • Knowledge of food administration standards and codes is a plus.

  • Strong initiative and ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-faceted environment.

  • Excellent attendance, punctuality, and reliability.

  • Ability to pass and maintain all required clearances as determined by DOH and other regulatory agencies.
