About the Role:
The Physician Assistant at our Prince Frederick office will play a critical role in delivering comprehensive podiatric care to patients of diverse backgrounds. This position involves collaborating closely with podiatrists and other healthcare professionals to diagnose, treat, and manage foot and ankle conditions effectively. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting patient histories, performing physical examinations, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, and developing treatment plans tailored to individual patient needs. Additionally, the Physician Assistant will provide patient education on preventive care and post-treatment rehabilitation to promote long-term foot health. Ultimately, this role aims to enhance patient outcomes through compassionate, evidence-based care within a multidisciplinary healthcare environment.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant program.
- Current and unrestricted Physician Assistant license to practice in the state of Maryland.
- Certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
- Demonstrated experience or clinical rotation in podiatry or related musculoskeletal care.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous work experience in a podiatry clinical setting.
- Advanced certifications related to musculoskeletal or podiatric care.
- Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems used in outpatient clinics.
- Strong background in patient education and preventive care strategies.
- Experience working within multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough patient assessments including history taking and physical examinations focused on podiatric conditions.
- Assist podiatrists in diagnosing and managing acute and chronic foot and ankle disorders.
- Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic tests such as X-rays and laboratory studies relevant to podiatry.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans, including prescribing medications and recommending therapeutic interventions.
- Provide patient education on foot care, injury prevention, and post-treatment rehabilitation protocols.
- Document patient encounters accurately and maintain up-to-date medical records in compliance with healthcare regulations.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate comprehensive patient care and follow-up.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and stay current with advances in podiatric medicine.
