Position Title: Maintenance Owner

Position Summary for Maintenance Owner
Sugar Foods is a food manufacturing, packaging and distribution company. The Maintenance Owner is the PM systems owner for the Line(s). The person in this role is responsible for eliminating maintenance and breakdown related losses. The Maintenance Owner is responsible for building capability in Operating Teams and Equipment Owners to deliver results supporting business needs. As an owner of the PM systems for the line, this role will focus on Defect Handling, Maintenance Planning, Scheduling, and breakdown elimination. The Maintenance Owner supports and leads portions of loss-elimination planning, drives breakthrough results in Planned and Unplanned Downtime, and owns maintenance and repair costs for the line.
Job Responsibilities of Maintenance Owner
- Maintenance & Repair costs for the line.
- % Planned Maintenance and % PMs complete.
- Breakdown Elimination and associated standards and reporting.
- Defect Fixes and standards management.
- Coach and develop Shift Teams by serving as a technical coach /resource. (Utilizing transformation Maps as Defect mode analysis).
- Actively participate in trio Daily Line Meetings and execution of the daily action plan, 90-day Plan and Maintenance Planning & Scheduling updates.
- Facilitate development of the trio 90 Day improvement plans to address losses and build capability.
- On the floor coaching of operators/equipment owners.
- Standards Execution ( 5S, CIL, Defects found, DDS, Health checks, Accountability).
- Loss Elimination (Triggering and leading RCA, 6w2H, and line masterplan development).
- Skill Development / Technical Mastery (7 Deadly defects, Transformation Analysis, etc. )
- Leads the trio Daily Line Meetings.
- Provide coaching to equipment owners during the shift exchange meeting.
- Provide daily work plans for area and facility managers.
- Research work request for clarity and need. Reviews manhour/craft requirements and prioritize with managers.
- Research and order parts materials for work orders and PM/TBM tasks.
- Pre-stage kit/parts and materials for work orders and PM tasks.
- Confirm availability for maintenance work to managers.
- Confirm availability of special tooling.
- Generate daily/shift listing of work orders and PM’s.
- Generate 90-day work plan.
- Create improvements and cost savings from downtime data.
- Provide areas with a running PM schedule.
- Input data in SharePoint.
- Ensure PMs completed. Give complete reports weekly.
- Schedule all critical compliance workorders including but not limited to metal detector, Xray, Ladder inspections, guard inspections, door safety, crane inspections.
- Ensure annual lock out tags out audit verifications are completed.
- Run weekly maintenance planning meeting.
- Work with Maintenance Manager and Production Mangers to establish daily/weekend priorities.
- Collect data from defects and modify PM procedures to continually refocus PM efforts from input from Maintenance Manager, Production Managers and Maintenance Technicians.
- Evaluate and stock parts required for new equipment installs.
- Schedule CI project improvements
- Order and kit CI project improvements.
- Collaborate with vendors on new equipment installations and stock correct recommended spares.
- Ability to reduce costs on sourced parts and equipment.
- Request the correct number of parts needed to perform scheduled TBM and PM work orders.
- Continue to evaluate stock parts. Add, modify and delete as need to keep minimum required stock parts needed.
- Schedule and request part orders from maintenance technicians for rebuilds and improvements.
- Lead machine rebuilds as needed.
Additional Responsibilities
- Assist on the floor with production startups.
- Assist on the floor with problems maintenance technicians need guidance with.
- Assist with training on lock out tag out procedures.
- Assist with team building and personal problem solving.
- Assist with downtime reduction and implementation of best practices.
- Lead/Assist on weekend work orders, PMs and TBMs.
- Lead/Assist on equipment rebuilds.
Qualifications / Requirements:
- Minimum of 10 years of experience as Maintenance Tech
- Effective communication skills
- Ability to work with minimum supervision
- Available to work under tight schedules
- Familiar with all plant equipment and systems
- Familiar with parts inventory
- Computer Capability eMaint, Excel, Power Point but not limited to
- Available to work weekends
Other Basic Requirements
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
- Able to relate and interact with people and treat others with respect.
- Able to safely lift up to 40-lbs.
- Able to work on the production floor, on your feet, 95-percent of your time at work.
- Able to perform repetitive tasks using hands, wrists, twist and bend body, grasping and pinching, kneeling, squatting, and climbing tasks.
- Flexibility on scheduling - weekend work will be required.
- Mechanical aptitude.
- Basic electrical knowledge.
- Have hand tools and mobile tool chest required for job.(List will be provided)
