The Assistant, Food Pantry will play a crucial role in supporting our mission to enhance the well-being of the communities we serve. In this role, you will contribute to the efficient operation of our food pantry, ensuring that individuals have access to nutritious food resources. Your dedication and compassion will directly impact the lives of those we serve, promoting health and well-being.

Essential Job Duties

  • Greet and assist clients accessing the food pantry with empathy and respect. Ensure a positive and dignified experience for all individuals seeking assistance.
  • Collaborate with other program staff to maintain accurate inventory records. Monitor stock levels, organize shelves, and track expiration dates to minimize waste.
  • Participate in the smooth operation of food distribution processes. Pack and distribute food items according to established guidelines, ensuring equitable and efficient service.
  • Conduct regular quality checks on food items to ensure freshness and compliance with safety standards. Report any issues promptly.
  • Maintain detailed records of food distribution activities. Assist in compiling data for reports, documenting the number of clients served, and other relevant metrics.
  • Work collaboratively with volunteers supporting food pantry operations.
  • Foster positive relationships with clients and community partners.
  • Adhere to all agency policies, including Confidentiality, Employee Handbook, Health Care Corporate Compliance Plan, Standards of Conduct, and other relevant policies.

KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:

Required and preferred knowledge and experiences to succeed.  

  • Education:
    • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Work Experience:
    • Previous experience in a similar role, preferably in a nonprofit or community service setting.
    • Valid Government Issued Driver’s License.
  • Soft Skills:
    • Knowledge of and sensitivity to the HIV/AIDS patient population, and/or an eagerness to learn about this community.
    • Flexibility in response to change, adapting quickly to shifting priorities.
    • Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.

 

Pay Rate
$24/hourly (Depending on Experience)
