Position Summary
The Area Finance Director is responsible for overseeing all accounting and financial reporting activities for assigned sites. This role ensures accurate, timely, and compliant financial information in accordance with GAAP, while driving process improvements and supporting operational leaders. The position partners closely with Regional Vice Presidents and General Managers to support business performance, optimization, and continuous improvement.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Manage all site-level accounting functions, ensuring financial records, processes, and internal controls comply with GAAP.
- Oversee revenue, expenses, billing, payables, payroll, and inventory tracking.
- Direct general ledger management, journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial transactions.
- Prepare budgets, forecasts, business performance analytics, and Monthly Operating Review reports.
- Enforce company policy for revenue recognition and other accounting processes.
- Review purchase orders and ensure timely processing.
- Track volume flows and ensure cost accounting aligns with business activity.
- Conduct capital expenditure analyses, including ROI and payback evaluations.
- Partner with operational leaders and corporate resources to ensure accounting reflects site activity and supports strategic goals.
Skills & Abilities
- Strong technical accounting knowledge and ability to apply GAAP in a complex, multi-site environment.
- High proficiency in Microsoft Excel; familiarity with MAS 500 software preferred.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization, from clerical staff to senior executives.
- Relationship-focused leadership style, with the ability to influence and support operational leaders.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required; Master’s degree preferred.
- CMA or CPA designation strongly preferred.
- Minimum 10 years of progressive accounting experience; industrial or manufacturing experience preferred.
- Demonstrated success in financial management, reporting, and cross-functional business partnership.
