You will be responsible for thorough analyses of a claims portfolio, identifying trends, quantifying cost drivers, and developing data informed strategies to reduce Lyft's total cost of risk.
Responsibilities:
- Analyze Claims Data: Conduct comprehensive file-by-file deep dive audits of claim files, providing detailed expert-level insights. Compile audit results into aggregated data to identify adverse trends, root causes, and emerging risks at all levels of severity.
- Translate Analytical Findings into Operational Improvements: Act as a bridge between data analytics and claims operations by translating identified trends (e.g., long cycle times, cost drivers) into actionable recommendations for workflow enhancements and process improvements.
- Model Development & AI Innovation: Utilize AI, including Large Language Models (LLMs) and traditional code based queries, to design and deploy models for automating claim audits, improving reporting efficiency, and uncovering hidden risk trends.
- Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Partner with Data Science, Advocacy, Legal, and Actuarial teams to provide claims insights that inform underwriting, loss forecasting, and Advocate action plans.
- Reporting & Visualization: In partnership with team analysts, develop and maintain key reporting assets (dashboards, presentations) in MODE, Google Sheets, and Slides to track KPIs and effectively communicate claims performance to business and leadership teams.
- Ad Hoc Projects: Lead and support special projects, such as litigation trend analysis, vendor cost-benefit analysis, or research into specific venues or operational areas.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or graduate-level certificate in Business, Finance, Economics, Risk Management, or a related quantitative field.
- 5+ years of experience in an analytical role within P&C insurance, risk management, or other large commercial operation.
- Prior experience in claims operations, preferably complex claims or at the supervisory level.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel is essential (e.g., pivot tables, complex formulas, data modeling).
- Demonstrated experience in analyzing large datasets (e.g., loss runs) to identify trends and create reports.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Basic knowledge of SQL or other database query languages.
- Demonstrated ability to translate data analysis into compelling visual stories and strategic narratives for an executive audience.
- Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or similar.
- Experience in a corporate risk management department for a company with a large, complex claims portfolio.
- Claims auditing and examination experience in a multi-state insurance environment, with any insurance company, self-insured entity, or third party administrator.
- Professional designations such as CPCU (Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter) or ARM (Associate in Risk Management) are a strong plus.

The expected base pay range for this position in the Nashville area is $66,420 - $83,030. Salary ranges are dependent on a variety of factors, including qualifications, experience and geographic location. Range is not inclusive of potential equity offering, bonus or benefits.
