Sasaki is an interdisciplinary design firm headquartered in Boston, MA, with locations in Denver, New York, Los Angeles and Shanghai, China. We have a dynamic creative culture with a reputation and body of work that spans over sixty-five years. Our Interior Design practice focuses on the places where we work and learn, with an emphasis on workplace design, building repositioning, higher education facilities, and sometimes unique collaborations with other disciplines at Sasaki. We believe that learning from each other creates great design.

Sasaki is looking for innovative, self-driven, and creative interior designers with 5-7+ years of relevant experience to join our team in our Boston or Brooklyn offices.

Our team of interior designers and architects deliver full-spectrum designs of interior space, working from the initial concept through the final details. They don't just apply finishes; they focus on crafting a clear design story that works on every level. And they’re business and brand-savvy—attuned to the current strategic objectives of our clients and naturally inclined to think ahead about how our built surroundings respond to the future.

At Sasaki we purposefully take on challenging work that we see as opportunities to evolve and stretch. As such, we look for teammates who are excited to engage fully from the get-go. Ideas matter tremendously around here and no matter your level, as a Sasaki designer you will be encouraged to have a point of view, to share your thinking often, to push design further, and to develop a comfortable rapport with clients. For a mid-sized firm, we guard our small-firm feel focusing less on hierarchy than on working together to yield the best designs.

The most successful candidates can deliver design excellence, attention to detail, organization and time management skills, and potential to grow into leadership roles over time. Not every designer needs to deliver on all of these attributes at once, but this is the mix of talent we seek. If you think you can add something special to our team and our practice we would love to hear from you.

What you bring:

Design chops – you’ve got vision, creativity, and skills

Collaborative spirit – the idea of interdisciplinary teamwork gets you excited

Opinions – you have them and value sharing them with others

Passion – you have a healthy dose of ambition for yourself, your team, the work (and the firm you’ll come to love)

Proactive resourcefulness – you’re energetic and positive about solving problems and take initiative to find a way to ‘yes’

Growth-orientation – you’re curious and want to find greater ways to impact the world around you

Humanistic sensibility – you design for people and you generally enjoy working with others

Curiosity – we are always learning and would love for you to do the same

What you’ll do:

Develop and coordinate detailed design concepts – from early design phases through coordination and detailing and develop project documentation

Perform production functions: drafting, documentation, and model creation

Prepare design presentation packages

Perform assignments including basic plans, elevations, renderings, square foot calculations, materials investigations and understanding where those fall within a project

Work through technical challenges and consultant coordination to implement design content

Communicate and present design intent to team and clients, using a variety of representation and presentation techniques

Lead, delegate, and critique work effectively; take ownership of aspects of projects and the design while collaborating with all members of the team

Experience and Education:

A Professional Degree in Interior Design or Architecture from an accredited program

5+ years of experience

Licensure a plus

High level of proficiency in Revit

Communication and Presentation: Adobe and Microsoft suites, rendering, Enscape (physical model making a plus)
