Position Overview:
Responsibilities
- Support the implementation of new network solutions and enhance existing infrastructure.
- Troubleshoot network issues, resolve outages, and perform root cause analysis.
- Assist with network upgrades, patches, and maintenance to ensure security and optimal performance.
- Collaborate with senior engineers to design and implement scalable network solutions.
- Maintain detailed network documentation, including diagrams and configuration details.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and best practices for network security and reliability.
- Provide technical support and respond to service requests from clients or internal teams.
- Bridge the technical knowledge gap by breaking down complex network deployments and protocols into understandable content for non-expert team members.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, IT, or a related field.
- Equivalent practical experience may be substituted for a degree, provided the candidate has at least a high school diploma or GED.
- Certifications like CCNA, JNCIA, or equivalent are a plus.
- Basic knowledge of network protocols (e.g., BGP, OSPF, MPLS, IP addressing, etc.).
- Job-based experience with routing and switching networking equipment from the following list:
- Cisco ASR9k
- Cisco NCS
- Juniper MX
- Juniper EX
- Arista 7280
- Two (2) years of experience in telecommunications at carrier scale, working with layer 2/3 routers and switches, as well as data services for broadband subscribers.
- Four (4) years of experience in telecommunications service provider core and edge networks preferred.
- Four (4) years of experience implementing services using a command-line interface in network equipment is preferred.
- Requires three years of experience working remotely and operating independently with minimal supervision.
- In-depth knowledge of the rural/Tier 3-4 telecom industry, its operations and broad technical concepts is preferred.
- Bridge the technical knowledge gap by breaking down complex network deployments and protocols into understandable content for non-expert team members.
- Ability to troubleshoot network problems and work effectively under pressure.
- Three years of experience in consulting or a similar job with strict timelines and set budgets is preferred.
- An understanding of network security principles, including firewalls and VPNs.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
