SUMMARY: Assists the Physical Therapist Assistant with care of patients as specified in the physical therapy plan of care within the scope of on-the-job training with supervision by the Physical Therapist or Physical Therapist Assistant who is on the premises and readily available to respond in person. Organizes the therapy rooms, keeps instruments and supplies clean and stocked, and supports good patient care.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Records quantitative data for task delegated by Physical Therapist or Physical Therapist Assistant including codes for billing, insurance verification, and pre-certification.
- Assist patient in carrying out plan of care as instructed by the Physical Therapist or Physical Therapist Assistant.
- Assist in treatment techniques for patient as instructed by Physical Therapist or Physical Therapist Assistant.
- Orders supplies and keep inventory as needed.
- Responsible for department and patient treatment rooms clean and stock with appropriate supplies and laundry.
- Keep work area clean and orderly.
- Participate in in-service training as required.
- Miscellaneous duties as assigned requested or required.
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Customer service abilities including effective listening skills.
- Must be able to relate to and work with ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and at times, hostile people within the facility.
- Maintain discretion and confidentiality in communications.
- Knowledgeable about policies and procedures regarding reporting and release of protected health information (PHI).
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- High School Diploma/GED equivalent
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certificate
LANGUAGE/READING SKILLS:
- Communicate verbally and in writing in English. Legible hand writing is required.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
- Basic mathematical capabilities.
REASONING ABILITY: Responds to unusual or varied situations that are not covered by existing standards, procedures and precedents.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: Regularly required to stand, walk, sit, ascend and descend stairs, possess ability to handle, finger or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms. High risk environment for exposure to blood and bodily fluids.
Must be able to lift 25 pounds from the floor to waist and may occasionally be required to lift 50 pounds from the floor to waist level. Specific vision abilities include close vision and the ability to clearly focus vision.
