We are looking for Material Handlers with Forklift experience (preferred but will train if not) to operate powered industrial trucks to load and unload materials and deliveries and move them to and from storage areas, machines and loading docks, into railroad cars or trucks or storage facilities.
You will need to have stamina and the ability to lift heavy loads. You should be able to concentrate on performing your tasks and commit to safety rules. If you fit this description and you're also interested in doing tough but important work, we'd like to hear and meet you.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Obtains copy of production schedule or shipping order and transports material or equipment to and from designated areas in the facility.
- Loading and unloading goods from vehicles such as trucks or rail cars with Forklift or Crane. (i.e. Posts, Pipe, Blocks & tube)
- Stacking goods in the correct storage bays, following inventory control instructions (i.e. Mondo Blocks, Pipe)
- Stacking empty pallets
- Performing daily equipment checks of forklifts and filling out maintenance checklist
- Removing machine attachments and waste material from machines (i.e. Forklift pads when not moving coated pipe)
- Examining products to verify conformance to quality standard
- Dumping of waste into Dumpsters (i.e. Banding, Tie downs)
- Recycling Metal from incoming rail-cars (i.e. Scraps Dunn-age)
- Build dunnage with chocks
- Cut lumber and nail chocks onto the dunnage boards according to the templates
- Attend weekly and monthly Safety meetings

- High school diploma or equivalent
- Good math, language and reading skills: basic computer skills required
- Must be organized
- Must have strict attention to detail and the ability to multi-task
- High degree of attention required to prevent injury to others: promote a safe work environment
- Follow instructions for operating equipment and keeping records
- Execute assignments in an accurate, timely and safe manner
- Clean driving record and a valid safe motor vehicle operator's license may be required
- Forklift certification per OSHA standards
- Ability to operate chop saws and nail guns
Physical Demands and Abilities
- Regularly sitting on a powered industrial truck
- Frequently lift up to 50 pounds and adjusting body positions to bend, stoop, stand, walk, turn, pivot, and stand for long periods of time.
- Having a good sense of balance
- Having good eye-hand-foot coordination
- Ability to assess weights and judge distance and heights
- Ability to work in varying temperatures, depending on the seasons.
$18.36 - $26.65/hr DOE
