About the Department

The County Clerk- Elections Office temporarily employs Per Diem Elections Process Aides specifically during elections periods to assist with the increased workload that occurs during an election. 

This classification is a per diem classification. Incumbents are paid an hourly rate for actual hours worked, are not entitled to benefits, do not obtain permanent status and serve at the will of the department head. Permanent county employees are not eligible for this per diem employment. 


Applicants must be willing to work any shift of a 24-hour period and any 7 days of the week, including on a holiday. 


Applicants must be willing to work in any outlying county area as assigned.


Employment Standards:
  • 18 year of age or older

  • Registered voter or eligible to register to vote

  • Any equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience to perform the duties of the job.

Minimum Qualifications

This is a continuous recruitment and can close at any time without notice. 

All Kern County employees are designated "Disaster Service Workers" through state and local laws (CA Government Code Sec. 3100-3109 and Ordinance Code Title 2-Administration, Ch. 2.66 Emergency Services). As Disaster Service Workers, all County employees are expected to remain at work, or to report for work as soon as practicable, following a significant emergency or disaster.

A background check may be conducted for this classification.

Following an offer of employment, you may be required to submit to post offer medical and drug screening tests at County expense.
