Join our team of hardworking heroes to deliver unsurpassed medical care to the Shreveport/Bossier area. You will be providing care to patients while adhering to compliance standards. Our ideal candidate is an outstanding communicator and problem-solver, able to recognize patient needs and prioritize treatment with physicians and clinical staff.
Compensation: $32 - $38 per hour
Schedule: Monday - Thursday
7am - 5pm
Responsibilities:
- Reviews patient’s medical information such as patient’s name, allergies, procedure, prescriptions, past medical history and medications
- Prepares procedures list
- Takes vital signs such as weight, blood pressure, pulse, respiration, and temperature
- Educates patient on medications and medication safety, procedures and risk/benefits, office policies, and post-operative instructions
- Completes nursing sections of the medical chart
- Sets up the procedure room with supplies including gloves, trays, and drugs based upon the physician’s orders
- Prepares the patient for the procedure, starts IV’s, instructs patients to change, escorts patients to procedure room, drapes, and positions patient
- Assists physicians during procedures
- Communicates with patients’ to answer medical questions
- Resolves patient complaints
- Breaks down the exam and/or procedure room –changing linens, disposing of medical waste, sterilizing for next patient/procedure
- Escorts the patient to the recovery room
- Monitors the patient during recovery and completes recovery section of the medical chart
- Reviewing discharge instructions and medications with the patient
- Discharges patients and completes the discharge section of the medical chart
- Orders medical drugs and supplies used for procedures
- Telephones patients one day after their procedure to check on their status and documents the telephone follow-up section of the medical chart
- Provides leadership by working cooperatively with ancillary nursing staff and other patient team personnel
Requirements
- Complies with state and federal laws
- Current unencumbered LA license
- Minimum of 1 year clinical experience
- Prior EHR experience preferred
- BLS certification required
- ACLS certification preferred
- Candidate must be able to transport patients via stretcher, position on table, offer lifting help up to 50 pounds occasionally, and frequently lift up to 25 pounds.
