Performs non-professional nursing duties in the care of a wide range of patients, including ages from pediatric to adult, medical, surgical, critically ill, and obstetrical patients.
Job Duties:• Performs nursing tasks in compliance with the CNHS policies and protocols.
• Participates in updating patient care plans and takes appropriate action to notify the RN and/or practitioner regarding changes in the patient status.
• Administers therapeutic measures as prescribed by the practitioner.
• Collaborates with other CNHS disciplines and other agencies to ensure the highest quality health care for patients.
• Maintains complete, accurate and truthful records and reports on patients, daily activities, program status, and other required information.
• May reinforce and contribute to patient and caregiver education based on the recipient’s level of understanding, under the direction of a registered nurse (RN) or another licensed healthcare practitioner.
• Provides safe and effective evidence-based nursing care to achieve identified health outcomes.
• Provides high-level communication skills that include: interpersonal, verbal, written, and electronic. Possess the ability to contribute cohesively as an active member of the multidisciplinary team.
• Maintains knowledge and competency of current and evidence-based nursing practice.
• Maintains and promotes positive personal work habits and work culture.
• Provides Human Resources with a copy of all licensures, certifications, renewal of licensure and certifications upon receipt thereof.
• Other duties as assigned.
Surgical Services: Required to be on-call on a rotating basis including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
No supervisory responsibilities are required.
Qualifications:EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT
Graduate of an accredited practical nurse or vocational nursing program.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
No additional experience.
COMPUTER SKILLS REQUIRED
To perform this job successfully, an individual should know Database software; Human Resource systems; Internet software; Order processing systems, and Payroll systems.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Must possess a license as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) from the Oklahoma Board of Nursing (OBN) or possess a multistate LPN license accepted by the OBN; no substitutions. Must maintain throughout employment. Must be certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) and maintain throughout employment. Can be obtained during orientation. Must be certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and maintain throughout employment. If not certified, ACLS certification must be obtained within six (6) months of hire. All Departments, except the Obstetrical Department, must be certified in Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and maintain throughout employment. If not certified, PALS certification must be obtained within six (6) months of hire. Must be certified in National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) and maintain throughout employment. If not certified, NIHSS must be obtained within six (6) months of hire. A driver’s license may be required to work in some departments. If so, the applicant/employee must possess a valid driver’s license with a driving history verified through a motor vehicle report that meets the requirements for Cherokee Nation underwriting rating.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
The employee must not be and will not be under sanction by the United States Department of Health and Human Services Office of the Inspector General (OIG) or by the General Services Administration (GSA) or listed on the OIG’s Cumulative Sanction Report, or the GSA’s List of Excluded Providers, or listed on the OIG’s List of Excluded Individuals/Entities (LEIE).
