Job Overview
The HVAC Technician will provide HVAC services with specific responsibility for identifying repair and/or replacement needs; installing, repairing, maintaining, and upgrading HVAC systems and equipment; assisting other skilled trades; and ensuring that tools and materials are available at the job site. The general responsibilities of the position include those listed below, but the Attleboro Schools may identify other responsibilities of the position.
General Responsibilities
- Installs, maintains, and repairs heating, ventilating, and air conditioning systems.
- Monitors HVAC systems and operations and ensures that routine preventative maintenance is performed according to established schedules and standards.
- Responds to hot and cold calls, then troubleshoots and resolves issues.
- Checks, repairs and/or replaces valves, motors, controls, switches, gauges, wiring, fans, pumps, compressors, condensers, cores, pipes, and other functional components of the system.
- Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
- Documents all work in the CMMS system (Maximo)
- Complies with all district safety and risk management policies and procedures.
- Reports all accidents and injuries in a timely manner.
- Participates in regular safety meetings, safety trainings and hazard assessments.
- Applies all applicable OSHA and related local safety requirements to all assigned work.
- Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
- Attends training programs (virtual and classroom) as designated.
- Assists with snow removal to include the use of snow blowers, tractors and shovels.
- May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Job Qualifications
Experience & Knowledge
- High School Diploma, GED or equivalent experience preferred.
- Technical Professional Schooling or Apprenticeship
- 5 or more years of related commercial/industrial work experience
- Strong controls experience is preferred

License & Qualifications
- Certifications: Holds appropriate license/certification for the specific work to be done in the city and state in which the work will be performed
MA Refrigerator License/ MA Pipe Fitters license - RSES License

Physical Requirements
- Close vision, distant vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus, with or without corrective lenses.
- Significant walking or other means of mobility
- Ability to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 8 hours)
- Ability to reach, bend, stoop, push and/or pull, and frequently lift up to 35 pounds and occasionally lift/move 40 pounds.
Working Conditions (may add additional conditions specific to defined work location)
- Varying schedule to include evenings, holidays, weekends, and extended hours as business needs dictate,
- While performing duties of this job, the employee is primarily in a controlled, temperate environment; however, may be exposed to heat/cold during support of outside activities.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
- Wears protective clothing and/or Personal Protective Equipment required by the work environment or governmental regulations.
