Cardiovascular OR Scrub Tech - Travel Position
Location: Knoxville, TN
Job Type: Travel Contract
Duration: 13 weeks
Shift: 5x8s Days
Pay: $2463/week
Job Description
- -Position requires recent, relevant experience in surgical services as a Scrub Tech.
- -Work hours: 6:45 AM - 3:15 PM, Monday through Friday.
- -On-call requirement: 3-4 nights per week (3 PM - 7 AM) and every other weekend.
- -Holiday rotation is mandatory; no requests for time off during major holidays (Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year) will be -approved.
- -Float requirements apply.
- -Strong neuro and orthopedic surgical experience is essential.
Required Certifications
- -NBSTSA (National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting)
- -BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA certified
- -Additional certifications may be required depending on unit assignment (e.g., ACLS, PALS, NRP, TNCC, EFM) — verify with program management if unclear.
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
Identification & Legal Documents
- -Valid, current Driver’s License or State ID (color copy required).
- -I9 verification required.
Health & Immunization
- -Physical exam within 12 months prior to start, confirming fitness for duty.
- -Negative TB test (QGold or Skin Test) within 1 year; chest X-ray if prior positive TB.
- -Immunizations or titers required for:
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) - 2 vaccines or positive titer.
- Hepatitis B - vaccine series, titer, or declination.
- Varicella - 2 vaccines or positive titer.
- -Seasonal flu vaccine required for 2025-26 season (no declinations accepted; exemptions only for medical or religious reasons with proper documentation).
- -Drug screening within 45 days of start, including a comprehensive panel (amphetamines, benzodiazepines, fentanyl, opiates, etc.) with chain of custody documentation.
Background & Employment History
- -Background check completed within 45 days of start, covering 7 years of history including SSN trace, criminal, sex offender, and abuse registries.
- -Two supervisory references from employers within the last 3 years.
- -Employment application with 7-year work history, no unexplained gaps over 30 days, and active nursing license details (if applicable).
Competency Exams & Skills
- -Medication/Pharmacology competency exam required.
- -Color blindness test within 12 months prior to start (Ishihara or equivalent).
- -Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam for RNs (80% pass rate required).
- -Core Competency Exams (Parts I, II, III) with minimum 80% pass rate, updated annually.
- -Unit-specific skills checklist updated within the last year.
Facility-Specific Requirements
- -Passport-style photo with solid background for badge issuance (no filters or facial piercings).
- -Completion of Covenant Health onboarding documents and attestations.
- -Background check alias name attestation if applicable.
- -Job description acknowledgment based on profession, updated if there is a gap greater than 30 days between assignments.
Important Notes
- -No requests for time off during holidays or holiday weeks will be accepted.
- -All travelers must work holiday shifts as assigned by management.
- -The operating room will not approve requests for time off at booking; all time off must be discussed with managers during the assignment.
