You will lead biomarker research related to neurodegenerative disorders (ND), such as Alzheimer’s Disease and Parkinson’s Disease. You will work with the biomarker, discovery and experimental medicine teams and the neurodegenerative disease area leader on formulating and implementing biomarker research plans to support discovery, translation and clinical development. You will engage in the direction, planning, execution, and interpretation of biomarker related efforts in clinical trials, such as assay implementation at CROs, data collection, data QC and analysis activities. In this role, you will report to the head of neuroscience biomarkers.

You, the Principal Scientist will be responsible for the following functions:

  • Accountable for ND biomarker research in support of all compounds in Discovery, Experimental Medicine, and Clinical Development.
  • Work with discovery, translational medicine and clinical research colleagues to implement biomarker strategies that will inform and improve decision-making for the ND drug portfolio.
  • Work under limited supervision with a high level of autonomy and direct biomarker-related aspects of pre-clinical and clinical studies to effect biomarker validation and application.
  • Collaborate with the compound development teams on clinical study protocol design, development, implementation and execution related to ND projects; liaise with the clinical operations and biomarker operations teams to facilitate implementation.
  • Interact with investigational sites, clinical consultants, Contract Research Organizations (CRO) and other vendors as necessary. Monitor adherence to protocols, data quality and assess study completion.
  • Identify consultants and special scientific lecturers and arrange for them to visit; maintain multiple external relationships.
  • Handle data analysis and interpretation and communicate results to internal and external organizations.
  • Remain current on the evolving landscape of biomarker technologies and applications, study methodologies, assessment tools and relevant drug mechanisms of action.
