Position Summary:
The primary purpose of the Manager of Sterile Processing Department position is to provide 24/7 leadership and management of sterile processing operations for the HPMC. The SPD Manager is responsible for approved infection control, quality assurance and departmental policies and procedures.
- Oversees the processing and sterilization of medical devices, supplies and equipment utilized in patient care in accordance with regulatory requirements.
- Supervises staff and manages development and technical training programs, new employee orientation and continuing education/proficiency activities.
- Collaborates with Perioperative Services administration for new instrument and equipment purchases.
- Provides data on quality performance measures to Director Perioperative Services
- Interfaces regularly with Perioperative leadership, and staff nurses, physicians, Supply Chain Management, Hospital Support Management and Senior Hospital Leadership as needed to improve processes and workflow related to sterile processing operations.
- Provides leadership to personnel who are responsible for sterilization of instruments for all age ranges inclusive of neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients.
