Redland City Council is seeking an experienced Electrical Governance and Implementation Lead to drive organisation-wide reform and strengthen compliance with the Electrical Safety Act 2002 (Qld), relevant Australian Standards, and internal governance frameworks.

 

This pivotal role provides high-level technical leadership, guiding the development and implementation of Council’s electrical framework. You’ll define roles and responsibilities, set policy positions, and embed safe, compliant, and consistent practices across all service areas. Working closely with Infrastructure & Operations, (City Assets, City Operations, City Water and Project Delivery), WHS, Procurement, Legal and other teams, you’ll lead cultural and operational change that uplifts electrical safety maturity across the organisation.

 

 

 

Your responsibilities will include:

 

  • Design, implement, and embed Council-wide electrical governance frameworks, policies, and standards.

  • Translate complex technical and regulatory requirements into practical governance and compliance solutions.

  • Lead cross-functional working groups to drive cultural and operational change.

  • Provide expert advice on electrical safety, risk management, and reform strategies.

  • Monitor and report on performance, risks, and opportunities for continuous improvement.

 

 

About you:

 

We’re looking for a proactive and influential leader with:

 

  • Demonstrated expertise in electrical risk management, compliance, or safety reform in complex operational environments.
  • Strong working knowledge of the Electrical Safety Act 2002 (Qld), WHS legislation, and relevant Australian Standards (AS/NZS 3000, 4836, 5139).
  • Proven experience translating technical electrical risks into practical governance and training solutions.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead change initiatives and engage diverse stakeholders at all levels.
  • High-level written and verbal communication skills, with confidence in preparing executive reports, frameworks, and briefings.
  • Strong project coordination and reform delivery experience.
