Job Description:
We are seeking a Director of Technology & Integrations to lead the strategy, execution, and innovation around all external and internal system integrations across our healthcare platform. This senior leader will play a key role in driving the vision, scalability, and roadmap of our integration ecosystem while ensuring high availability, performance, and compliance.
The ideal candidate is both a technical expert and a strong communicator, with experience working directly with enterprise clients, healthcare partners, and internal stakeholders to design and deliver integration solutions that are robust, reusable, and aligned with business goals.
Key Responsibilities:
Vision & Strategy
- Define and execute the long-term strategy for the integration platform and ecosystem.
- Lead platform modernization efforts including transition to scalable, event-driven, and API-first architectures.
- Build a roadmap that aligns technology capabilities with business goals, customer needs, and regulatory requirements.
Stakeholder & Customer Engagement
- Act as the primary technical leader and trusted advisor in conversations with key customers and integration partners.
- Translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions while ensuring clarity and alignment across internal stakeholders.
- Collaborate with product, compliance, customer success, and delivery teams to manage partner onboarding and go-lives.
Architecture & Delivery
- Oversee the design and development of integration services, APIs, and connectors (e.g., HL7, FHIR, EDI, REST, SFTP).
- Ensure solutions are secure, compliant (HIPAA, SOC2), and performant under high-volume, real-world usage.
- Drive decisions around technology stack, tooling, system design patterns, and scalability strategies.
Team Leadership & Development
- Lead and grow high-performing engineering teams with clear direction, ownership, and technical excellence.
- Establish best practices for integration development, documentation, observability, and post-deployment monitoring.
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
Operational Excellence
- Build mechanisms for health monitoring, SLA tracking, logging, and alerting across integration systems.
- Define and track key performance metrics (latency, throughput, uptime) to ensure integration platform reliability.
- Partner with InfoSec and DevOps to ensure end-to-end security and scalability.
Qualifications
- 12+ years of experience in software/integration engineering with at least 4–5 years in a leadership role.
- Deep understanding of healthcare integration standards and protocols (e.g., HL7, FHIR, CCD, X12, SFTP, APIs).
- Experience integrating with EHRs/EMRs (e.g., Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth) and healthcare partner ecosystems.
- Strong architectural foundation in designing scalable, resilient integration platforms.
- Hands-on experience with API management, messaging queues (Kafka, RabbitMQ), and monitoring tools.
- Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to interface with executive stakeholders and customers.
- Proven track record of leading complex integration projects from discovery through delivery.
- Familiarity with compliance standards such as HIPAA, SOC2, HITRUST is required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in HL7/FHIR integration and EMR interoperability.
- Certified or experience with EPIC integrations.
- Experience working in a SaaS healthcare environment.
- Background in both cloud-native and hybrid deployment models.
- Experience in building self-service integration platforms or developer portals.
- Exposure to Mirth, Redox, Rhapsody, or similar healthcare integration engines.
