Inspector Programs - Rental Taskforce (Fair Trading)

$99,938 - $110,271 + superannuation and leave loading
Duration: 2 x Ongoing, full-time
Location: Parramatta 2 – 3 days per week, hybrid and flexible working
conditions available.

We also want to hear from candidates with compliance and regulatory experience in different fields, including local councils, regulators, insurance and banking compliance and social housing.
About the team
Do you want to make a difference in NSW's rental market? Join the Office of the Rental Commissioner at NSW Fair Trading. We're hiring Inspector roles for the NSW Rental Taskforce to improve renting conditions. You'll inspect rentals, collect evidence, and enforce property and consumer laws.
This new team is working in new ways to prevent and respond to breaches of property law in NSW. The Taskforce will work on key issues of rental home quality, failure to lodge bonds, solicited rent bidding, unfair evictions and issues of safety and consumer protection.
Reporting to a Senior Inspector you will work with the Compliance team to investigate matters, gather evidence, prepare reports and provide advice.
What you will do:
- Carry out compliance and investigation activities related to the rental sector.
- Participate in proactive compliance activities and programs.
- Advise customers on compliance outcomes.
- Work in a fast-paced team committed to fair outcomes that make a real impact in the community.
To be successful in this role you will have:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make sound decisions based on inspection findings.
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy in documentation and reporting.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
- Regulatory knowledge – understanding of legislation and compliance and enforcement powers.
- Integrity – be ethical, professional and uphold the public sector values.
Must-Haves
- Certificate IV in Government Investigations (or preparedness to undertake an identical employer sponsored program within 12 months).
- Strong understanding of regulatory compliance.
- A current NSW driver’s licence & willingness to travel when required.
