Position Overview:

BayCare Medical Group (BMG) is a physician-led medical group seeking two experienced Physician Assistant (PA) or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) to join our well-established neurosurgical team at St. Joseph’s Hospital, a 465-bed Level II trauma hospital located in beautiful Tampa, Florida.

 

The current team consists of five experienced Board-Certified Neurosurgeons who specialize in treating all surgical cranial, spinal, and peripheral nerve pathology and supported by five advanced practice providers. This is an outstanding opportunity to work with a rapidly growing neurosurgery practice serving both pediatric and adult patients across the greater Tampa Bay region. The ideal candidate is team-oriented, adaptable, and compassionate with a desire to grow within a high-volume, high-acuity specialty.

 

Key responsibilities:

  • Dynamic role with a strong emphasis on inpatient care.

  • Work closely with excellent physician mentors during daily inpatient rounding and assisting in the operating room, gaining valuable hands-on experience.

  • Evaluating and managing patients in an outpatient clinic setting, including pre-operative and post-operative care.

  • Rotate call weekends with five other APPs, allowing for a flexible schedule.

  • Functioning as part of a collaborative, multidisciplinary team focused on delivering high-quality neurosurgical care.

Qualifications:
  • The candidate must have experience in an acute care setting and preferably two years of experience or training in neurosurgery.
  • Clinical rotation in neurosurgery or RN experience in a neurosurgical setting is a plus.
  • Passion for learning and strong interest in working in neurosurgery.
  • Surgical First Assist or RNFA certification is preferred.
  • Board certified and ability to obtain a Florida license.
  • Must obtain and maintain hospital medical staff privileges.
