Job Expectations
Build your career and Australia’s future.
Not many people can say they are working on building Australia’s future. With us you’ll be doing just that, leaving a legacy for all Australians. Plus, there’s equal employment, great training, and true flexible working arrangements.
We have an exciting opportunity at nbn for a HSE Governance, Risk and Compliance Manager. This role will report to the Executive Manager Governance, Risk and Compliance – Safety Wellbeing and Sustainability.
A bit about your role
This role offers the opportunity to strengthen nbn’s approach to risk and compliance within Health, Safety and Environment (HSE). This will involve improving our safety and environmental management systems, bringing clarity and cohesion to how HSE risk is assessed and managed and controls assured across the organisation.
You will establish HSE risk registers, conduct risk assessments, and document controls, while developing and delivering an audit program that supports both operational and strategic outcomes. Your work will span process analysis, procedure development and Second Line Assurance, with a strong focus on producing high-quality reports for operational, executive and board-level audiences. This role will see you collaborating across Safety, Wellbeing and Sustainability, People & Culture, and Enterprise Risk and Compliance teams, helping to embed a consistent and effective approach to governance, risk and assurance.
A bit about you
The successful candidate will bring deep experience in HSE governance, risk and compliance, ideally within high-risk industries such as construction, mining, telco or rail. You are confident navigating complex systems and frameworks, with a strong track record in risk assessment, assurance and reporting.
You bring a strategic mindset and a keen eye for detail, paired with strong writing and stakeholder engagement skills. Your ability to think both operationally and at an enterprise level will be key to integrating systems and driving meaningful change. A background in consulting or advisory is highly valued, and your readiness to step in and lead from day one will help shape a safer, more resilient future for nbn.
