The Proposal Manager leads the development of customer RFPs (Requests for Proposals) for a specific business unit or sector. They implement a defined and consistent proposal process including proposal planning, leading the kick-off meeting; developing the proposal schedule; process leadership (compliance matrices, outlines, proposal reviews, etc.); assign team tasks, proposal status maintenance; issue resolution; managing production support; post submittal proposal update management.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education: Bachelor Degree in Communications, Journalism, or English
Experience: Minimum of five years of relevant experience
Travel: 5-10%
Work Schedule: This position works between the hours of 7 AM and 5 PM, Monday- Friday. Overtime may be required. However, work may be performed at any time on any day of the week to meet business needs.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responds to RFPs within self-imposed deadlines through the assessment of requirements, utilization and coordination of resources, and task prioritization.
- Completes RFPs with minimal supervision.
- Organizes, attends, and leads strategy calls for each RFP.
- Writes strategic proposals that meet our clients’ needs.
- Develops proposal by assembling information including project objectives/outcomes/deliverables, proposal schedule, implementation, writing assignments for internal and external resources, methods, staffing, budget, standards of performance, and evaluation.
- Writes, revises, and edits drafts including executive summaries, conclusions, and organization credentials.
- Coordinates requirements with contributors; contributing proposal status information to review meetings; transmitting proposals.
- Gathers proposal information by identifying sources of information; coordinating submissions and collections; identifying and communicating risks associated with proposals.
- Prepares submission presentation by evaluating text, graphics, and binding; coordinating printing.
- Maintains quality results by using templates; following proposal-writing standards including readability, consistency, and tone.
- Obtains approvals by reviewing proposal with key providers and project managers.
- Improves proposal-writing results by evaluating and re-designing processes, approach, coordination, and boilerplate; implementing changes.
- Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; maintaining personal networks.
- Works closely with business units to implement best practices for knowledge management and content creation to enhance the quality of proposals. Track and analyze proposal win rates, feedback, and other metrics to identify areas for improvement.
- Develops and maintains a proposal library with standard templates, case studies, and key content to streamline the proposal creation process.
- Creates and delivers sales enablement materials, including presentations, product sheets, etc. to support the sales team in engaging potential clients.
- Performs other related duties as required and assigned.
