General Definition of Work
The Instructional Specialist, under moderate supervision, performs instructional programs support work with limited decision-making discretion supporting master teachers and classroom teachers by promoting effective instructional practices and enhancing student learning outcomes. Employee collaborates with educators to develop and implement innovative teaching strategies, provide professional development opportunities, and assess instructional effectiveness. Employee performs school based and district level work to carry out Board of Education policies and procedures as an expert instructional specialist under the direction of the Assistant Superintendent of School Performance.

Place of Work
The normal place of work is on the premises used by Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools. Charlotte- Mecklenburg Schools reserves the right to require you to work at such other place(s) as it may reasonably require from time to time.
Essential Functions
- Adhere to all state, federal, and local laws, policies, and procedures
- Collaborate with teachers and administrators to identify and develop instructional strategies that effectively address instructional needs and provide professional development
- Collaborate with peer groups to implement professional development
- Provide ongoing support and guidance to teachers in the planning, implementation, and assessment of curriculum and instructional practices
- Facilitate professional development sessions to enhance teachers' pedagogical skills, content knowledge, and use of instructional technology
- Conduct classroom observations and provide constructive feedback to teachers to improve instructional delivery and student engagement
- Analyze student achievement data to identify trends, areas for improvement, and effective instructional practices
- Assist in the development and implementation of initiatives to promote a culture of continuous improvement and student-centered learning
- Stay current on educational research, best practices, and emerging trends to inform instructional decision-making and professional development offerings
- Collaborate with curriculum instructional specialists, instructional coaches, and other educational stakeholders to align instructional practices with academic standards and learning objectives
- Serve as a resource and mentor for teachers, offering support, guidance, and expertise in instructional methodologies and classroom management strategies
- Attend other related meetings as needed/required
- Participate in professional development workshops and leadership training
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Valid NC teaching license required
- Master’s degree in Education, Curriculum and Instruction, or related field preferred
- Minimum of five (5) years’ experience as successful content area teacher required
- Equivalent combination of experience and education
Special Requirements
- Possess and maintain a valid Driver’s License or ability to provide own transportation
- Travel to school district buildings and professional meetings
