Position Title: Senior Software Developer - Applications

Location: Hybrid (Remote & USCG, Baltimore, MD, & National Capital area)

Clearance: Secret

Position Overview

The Senior Software Developer will support the U.S. Coast Guard. This role is central to modernizing logistics applications, data systems, and workflows that sustain fleet readiness. The developer will leverage Microsoft Power Platform and other USCG-licensed technologies to deliver scalable, secure, and interoperable solutions aligned with cybersecurity and compliance standards.

Key Responsibilities

· Lead end-to-end software development activities to modernize legacy applications using low-code and traditional development approaches.

· Collaborate with stakeholders to conduct discovery sessions, capture business requirements, and translate them into user stories and functional solutions.

· Design, develop, test, and deploy minimum viable products (MVPs) and subsequent enhancements in an Agile environment.

· Support migration of legacy databases (e.g., Microsoft Access) to scalable modern platforms, ensuring data accuracy and governance.

· Develop API-based integrations to connect supply, financial, and maintenance systems, ensuring secure and seamless interoperability.

· Implement workflow automations, dashboards, and analytics capabilities to enhance decision-making and reduce manual processes.

· Ensure all software deliverables comply with DHS 4300A, DISA STIGs, Section 508 accessibility, and enterprise architecture requirements.

· Document code, configurations, and system designs to ensure knowledge transfer and sustainment by USCG personnel.

· Participate in sprint reviews, demos, and backlog refinement sessions with USCG stakeholders.

· Mentor junior developers and provide technical guidance in support of Power Platform adoption and fusion development.

Qualifications

· Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).

· Minimum of 7-10 years of software development experience, including work on federal or large-scale modernization efforts.

· Strong proficiency in Microsoft Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate, Dataverse) and experience with API integration.

· Demonstrated expertise in cloud-based solutions, preferably Microsoft Azure or AWS.

· Experience with database design, migration, and optimization.

· Familiarity with Agile methodologies (Scrum, SAFe, or similar) and DevSecOps practices.

· Working knowledge of cybersecurity compliance frameworks (DHS 4300A, NIST 800-53, FIPS, STIGs).

· Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
