Definition: Under the supervision of Section 8 Manager, Assistant Housing Manager, or Administrative Assistant, performs various tasks pertaining to the Section 8 Housing Assistance Payment Program (HAPP) and various other housing programs.
Characteristics of this Class: Positions allocable to this class perform tasks pertaining to certification of new applicant contracts, re-certification of yearly applicants, negotiation of rents and rent increases, enforcement of HUD Housing Quality Standards, communication with residents and landlords to insure compliance.
Position Duties
Examples of Essential Functions:
- Process yearly contract renewals.
- Verify application accuracy.
- Arrange for interviews with tenants.
- Verify inspection approval and comparable rents.
- Process new tenant contracts.
- Conduct certification sessions.
- Maintain contract between participants, landlords, and the Authority.
- Performs other essential job-related duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications
Three years of verifiable paraprofessional experience providing services to low income, elderly, or handicapped/disabled persons in public housing, employment, financial assistance or closely related services. A Bachelor's degree in Business or Public Administration, Psychology, or Sociology may be substituted for two (2) years of the required experience.
Special Requirement: Must possess a valid California Class "C" Driver's License.
