CLASS TITLE: Instructional Assistant II CLASS CODE: 7318
REPORTS TO: Principal/Designee EXEMPT STATUS: Non-Exempt
BASIC FUNCTION:
Assist in providing individualized support, reinforcing and facilitating instruction, and assisting with daily tasks and IEP goals, while maintaining a safe and orderly classroom.
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:
- Assists with reinforcing concepts and providing individualized or small-group consultation
- Helps to maintain classroom order and ensure student safety during activities and transitions
- Assists with distributing materials, setting up classroom activities, and maintaining a clean and organized learning environment
- Facilitates group discussions, games, and other activities under the teacher’s guidance.
- Monitor and report student behavior and progress
- Handle clerical tasks, including preparing materials, operating copiers, and maintaining records.
- Attend meetings and training sessions
- Consult with teachers on student needs and materials
- Maintain regular attendance
- Demonstrate punctuality, professionalism, appropriate appearance, and consistent, reliable attendance
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor or designee
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Requires speech, vision, and hearing capabilities
- Work involves both indoor and occasional outdoor activity
- Stand & move for extended periods; lift, push, pull, carry, etc. up to 25 lbs. repetitively; kneel, crouch, sit, etc.
- Use technology, including computers, interactive whiteboards, audio-visual equipment, etc.
- Adhere to the Professional Code of Ethics and follow all board and school policies

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
- Any combination equivalent to: High School diploma, G.E.D. certificate, or demonstrated progress toward obtaining a G.E.D. as required by Kentucky law
