Essential Job Functions:
- Explains federal regulations pertaining to the migrant education program; provides parent/guardian with a description of the Migrant Program and an explanation and purpose of the industrial survey.
- Abides by standard procedures and practices contained in the State Identification and
- Recruitment Handbook and other directives issued by the State Department of Education.
- Attends recruiter meetings and other training sessions sponsored by the District or by the State Department of Education.
- Identifies eligible migrant students residing within the boundaries of the Hoke County
- Public Schools; works flexible hours to reach migrant population, using discretion in determining when a migrant advocate should accompany you on a home visit.
- Completes Certificate of Eligibility and Health Data Entry Forms; obtains a parent signature for documentation of eligibility for eligible students; submits completed and signed Certificates of Eligibility and Health Data Entry forms to assigned staff.
- Works under the supervision of a Migrant Advocate; assists school principals, teachers, secretaries and nurses in maintaining related records.
- Communicates between home and school, continually striving to maintain positive communication.
- Assists Migrant Advocate with the recruitment of parents for membership in the Parent
- Advisory Council and with related activities.
- Provides or facilitates supportive services to migrant children or to their families as necessary; enables migrant children to receive a sound education.
- Documents, maintains, and keeps a daily log to include mileage and time of all activities such as home visits, assisting with PAC meetings, transportation of parents/guardians, or other activities.
- Performs all other duties as assigned

The major physical and cognitive requirements listed below are applicable to the Migrant Recruiter job classification within Hoke County Schools. Work in this classification is considered light physical work requiring the exertion of up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to move objects.
Must be able to:
- Prepare, read and comprehend a variety of job related forms, reports, spreadsheets, maps, plans, records, documentation and correspondence
