Riverbank Unified School District is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Middle School Athletic Director to oversee our athletic programs and support student-athletes’ growth and success. This role involves coordinating sports schedules, managing team logistics, and fostering a positive, inclusive athletic environment. This position is open to current RUSD employees only who are passionate about student achievement and leadership in athletics. This is a stipend position, and work hours will vary depending on the season and program needs. The schedule will be determined in collaboration with the site principal.

Job Description

JOB SUMMARY Under the supervision of the principal plans, organizes, directs and supervises the athletic program. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS 1.Credential: California teaching credential that authorizes instruction at the Middle School Level. 2.Education: Bachelor’s degree, including all courses needed to meet credentialing requirement. 3.Experience: Two (2) years-previous successful coaching experience and/or previous successful experience as an Athletic Director. 4.Personal Qualities: Ability to coordinate and promote all athletic events and work collaboratively with all coaches, staff, students, and the community. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THIS POSITION A.Demonstrates knowledge of modern physical education facilities and athletic equipment. B.Demonstrates the ability to plan interscholastic sporting events. C.Demonstrates knowledge and ability to work in accordance with federal laws, Title V, Title IX, California Education Code, and District regulations, policies, and requirements concerning the practice and/or participation in athletic events, including student conduct, eligibility and mandated safety and health standards and procedures. D.Demonstrates knowledge and ability to organize and administrate the athletic budget. E.In cooperation with the principal, assists in the recruitment and selection of coaching personnel in accordance with District standards and hiring practices. F.Works cooperatively with coaches, students, staff, and others contacted in an effective, tactful; and courteous manner. G.Trains and supervises students, personnel, and coaching staff in relationship to responsibilities relating to essential function “C” above. H.Responsible for safety of facilities and equipment in the athletic program and the safety of each individual athlete in conjunction with the sports program. I.Plans and holds meetings as necessary with coaches and/or school administrators for the purposes of organization, planning, goal setting, troubleshooting problem areas and development of resolution of problems. J.Prepares and monitors an athletic budget and presents it for approval to the principal. K.Responsible for the care, repair, selection, purchase, and inventory control of athletic equipment and supplies within the scope of District purchasing policies with the cooperation and assistance of coaches. Ability to: ?Work at a desk, conference table or in meetings of various configurations ?Stand and circulate for extended periods of time ?See for purposes of reading laws and codes, rules and policies and other printed matter and observing students. ?Hear and understand speech at normal levels ?Communicate so others will be able to clearly understand a normal conversation ?Bend, twist, stoop and kneel, crawl, push, pull ?List 20 pounds ?Carry 20 pounds ?Reach in all directions OTHER RELATED FUNLCTIONS OF THIS POSITION: 1.Coordinates communications with administration, Board of Trustees, public, and media concerning athletic activities on an ongoing basis. 2.Plans, schedules, coordinates, monitors, and evaluates the athletic program of the school; in a cooperative effort with coaches, prepares and presents for approval all competitive sports schedules. 3.Schedules officials for all home athletic events. 4.Coordinates the use of the athletic and physical education facilities after the regular school day with coaches, students, staff, and principal. 5.Assists in development of an Athletic Handbook. 6.Coordinates transportation of athletes and coaches for athletic events. 7.Promotes athletics at the school site and with feeder schools through public relations programs. 8.Arranges tournaments, award presentations, and special events. 9.Attends league, California Interscholastic Federation, and other related professional meetings. 10.Verify and qualify all student qualifications and eligibility to participate prior to active sports involvement (i.e. sports physical, insurance coverage, etc.). 11.Perform others related duties as assigned.
