Bi-lingual (Spanish) Certified Doula – Parents as Teachers

Overview:

Family Centers is a private, non-profit organization offering education and human services to children, adults, and families living in Lower Fairfield County. Our counseling and mental health services help individuals, groups, couples and families resolve a wide range of personal and relationship issues. All services are facilitated by trained mental health professionals and provided in our licensed and accredited centers located in Greenwich and Stamford.

The Role:

Family Centers is seeking a certified, bi-lingual (English/Spanish) Doula to join our Parents as Teachers (PAT) team in the Stamford/Greenwich areas. This position provides an opportunity to support vulnerable families through pregnancy, labor and delivery, and the postpartum period, offering emotional, physical, and educational support in a culturally sensitive way.

The Doula will provide:

  • Prenatal support through home visits, helping families prepare for birth and welcoming their baby.
  • Labor and delivery support in the hospital, ensuring mothers have a positive and safe birthing experience.
  • Postpartum visits to assist families as they transition back home.
  • Facilitate parent education groups offering education in key areas such as breastfeeding, maternal self-care, early childhood development, mental health, and building social support networks.
  • Provide guidance and referrals to community resources.
  • Maintain strong relationships with healthcare and social service providers.

Requirements:

  • Doula certification.
  • Bi-lingual (Spanish/English).
  • Prior experience working with vulnerable families and diverse communities.
  • Lactation training preferred (if not trained, Family Centers will cover training costs).
  • Ability to keep accurate and detailed notes reflecting services provided.
  • Willingness to work occasional evenings or weekends as needed.
  • Valid CT driver’s license and proof of auto insurance.
