Position Description

Supervises a section in a department that has institutional oversight responsibilities; coordinates activities of personnel and procedures to carry out departmental objectives according to established policies and procedures.

Major/Essential Functions

  • Promotes and practices safety in the workplace and ensures that all team members are following proper procedures.
  • Assigns, schedules and supervises all custodial staff assigned to your area. Follow up on visual and written inspections, do daily walks of buildings, and prepare weekend and on-call schedules - planning and scheduling for the holiday break and summer conferences and clean-up.
  • Participates in custodial work when needed, works the weekend callback as scheduled, responds to emergencies as needed, and dispatches staff to emergency situations in a timely manner. Assumes supervisor duties in the absence of the Unit Manager.
  • Assists the Unit Manager in the hiring and termination of employees. Maintains accurate records and the necessary paperwork in reporting accidents, attendance, Time Clock Plus approval, and yearly evaluations as well as any disciplinary counseling.
  • Reports any damages or repairs and monitors all supply orders and equipment replacement.
