Job Summary:
Production Manager oversees the safe and efficient operation of the Power and Production Department areas within the Silver Springs manufacturing facility. Plans, directs, and controls all aspects of the manufacturing process such as environmental compliance, production/processing, quality control and maintenance. Accountable for well fields, brine treatment, evaporation, drying and boiler operations.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensures Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) performance and compliance.
- Accountable for the Wet End Operations (including Well fields, brine treatment, evaporation, drying and Boiler room) operation. Manages area budget / cost, volume and quality. Manages small capital projects.
- Accountable for rotational supervisors (performance management and coaching and guidance), Production Process Engineers and all hourly employees within the Department.
- Manages equipment and process reliability.
- Works with other departments to meet plant goals and commitments.
- Participates in Production and Maintenance coordination.
- Ensures that department is using standard business processes, Management Control and Reporting System and Maintenance Excellence Work Practices.
- Delivers on special project assignments.
- As FSP Team Member shall ensure duties or work instructions are in place and communicated to all staff involved with the plant’s HACCP program and how it applies to product safety, legality, and quality.
- Accountable for Ensuring Compliance with all QC Requirements (GMP, FSP) and Providing Leadership to Drive Continuous Improvements in Product Quality. Understands the recording of FSP observations on production records/logs and how they pertain to the quality, legality and safety of products.
- Participates in capital budget and portfolio management.
- Responsible for developing and managing the shift schedule for rotational supervisors.
- Participates in succession planning activities.
- Develops area manufacturing strategy and cascades the strategy to establish individual employee expectations.
- Completes compliance requirements, including compliance matrix, and other training for position, as required.
- Participates on teams that promote success in the Evaporation Operations throughout Morton Salt.
- Performs other related duties, as required.
- Responsible for Leading and developing all direct reports in the Production Department.
- Ensures regulatory and corporate compliance.
- Manages EHS Performance in Power and Production Departments.
- Leads by example.
- Ensures department goals are aligned with plant business imperatives.
- Ensures performance goals are met.
- Establishes and ensures achievement of all unit Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
- Ensures adherence to standard work processes, including Management Control and Reporting System.
- Ensures compliance with corporate standards (e.g., financial, code of business conduct) and adherence to company policies.
- Manages area budget / cost, volume and quality.
- Supports business processes and requirements.
- Serves as a corporate steward.

- Ensures systems and processes are in place to maintain smooth operations during employee absences and staffing changes.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Bachelor’s Degree in engineering or other related technical degree.
- Minimum of three (3) years Production/Technical/ Maintenance management experience.
- Minimum five (5) years of management experience is preferred.
Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:
- Works in seated or standing positions for prolonged periods of time, performs office or clerical duties including use of office tools, travels between office and plant environments of varied temperatures and humidity, climbs stairs, ladders, working on elevated heights, and wears personal protective equipment, as required.
- Works in a general office, manufacturing plant environment and exterior sites, including well fields.
Starting rate of $95,000 and up (based on experience).
