MAJOR FUNCTION:

Under the direction of the Chief Medical Officer, provider safe and quality medical care and direct services to Inspira patients. Demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to assess, plan, care for, and provide services per Inspira standards.

-Provide high-quality palliative care to hospitalized patients with serious, complex, or life-limiting illnesses.

 -Lead interdisciplinary care teams, collaborating with nurses, social workers, chaplains, and other healthcare professionals.

-Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients’ physical, emotional, spiritual, and psychosocial needs.

-Develop and implement individualized care plans in collaboration with patients, families, and the broader care team.

-Offer guidance and support for patients and families facing difficult decisions related to advanced care planning and end-of-life issues.

-Participate in hospital-wide initiatives, including quality improvement projects and educational programs related to palliative care.

-Provide consultation to other healthcare providers, ensuring that palliative care principles are integrated into broader patient care.

-Educate residents, fellows, and other clinical staff on palliative care principles, symptom management, and communication skills.

-Facilitate advanced care planning discussions and support patients’ autonomy and informed decision-making.

-Ensure appropriate documentation of care in the medical record in compliance with hospital policies and procedures.

Position Experience Required

Strong clinical skills in symptom management, pain control, and care for patients with serious, chronic illnesses.

Previous experience in palliative care, hospice, or related specialties is a plus

 

Position Qualifications (details here or list below)

-MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school.

-Board certification or eligibility in Palliative Medicine (ABIM or ABFM) preferred.

-Active New Jersey Medical License (or eligibility for licensure in New Jersey).

  • Board Certification or Board Eligibility provided Board Certification is obtained within two years.
  • New Jersey CDS - Active, DEA Certificate - Active.
