About the Department
The Internal Auditor 2 - Investigator II is responsible for performing a full range of fraud examination principles and methodologies to assist the Lead Investigator and the Metropolitan Auditor in conducting investigations for the Metropolitan Nashville Government’s Fraud, Waste, and Abuse Program.
The Metropolitan Office of Internal Audit is an independent appraisal agency established to ensure and enhance the integrity, equality, accountability, effectiveness, and efficiency of service activities, and to pursue an atmosphere of honesty and mutual trust within the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County.
Position Duties
- Work independently and collectively with the Lead Investigator.
- Assists with:
- Planning and executing all phases of an effective investigation
- Conducting interviews of witnesses, suspects, and relevant parties
- Examining and interpreting relevant documents, financial records and data
- Obtaining useful, relevant, and reliable documentary, photographic, and testimonial evidence
- Other necessary field assignments as directed
- Documentation of work papers, interviews and evidence in anticipation of legal proceedings
- Preparing detailed reports on findings and recommending preventative measures for further action
- Analyzing evidence to support or refute allegations
- Collaborating with other departments and agencies as directed
- Attend relevant training to stay up to date on current fraud trends and investigative methodologies.
- Maintain objective, fair, unbiased, highly ethical and confidential behavior in accordance with departmental regulations and the Code of Professional Ethics established by the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners.
Minimum Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university and one (1) year experience in a field related to the detection or deterrence of fraud

*Note: Employee is expected to be pursuing certification Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE).
LICENSES REQUIRED: Valid Driver License
Candidates with accreditations earned in a foreign institute are encouraged to apply.
Note: Per Metro Ordinance No. SO94-1078. All employees of the Metropolitan Government shall be residents of the State of Tennessee or become residents of the state within six (6) months of employment as a prerequisite to employment with the Metropolitan Government.

Certification as a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), or Certified Internal Auditor (CIA)
