Position Overview:

As part of our Security team, you would be keeping our facility and employee’s safe which is a huge priority for Boston Whaler. We’re looking for an honest and professional individual to join our security team. This is an opportunity to interact with people daily and take pride in keeping them and our facility safe and secure. The on-duty Security Officer is often the first person that people encounter as they begin their workday or visit our facility.  We’re looking for someone with a friendly attitude who can represent our organization well while focusing on security.

Essential Functions:

  • Patrol facility on foot, ensuring the safety and security of staff, guest, vendors, assets, buildings, gates, and fence perimeter in all weather conditions, to include securing all doors, windows and exits depending on shift.
  • Investigate and take appropriate action as authorized by company policy on accidents, incidents, trespassing, suspicious activity, safety, and fire incidents. 
  • Monitor our video and fire system, alerting authorities if needed for emergencies.
  • Addressing any infractions of company rules or policies and/or forwarding to appropriate level of management.
  • Guard access points, permitting or refusing entry to facility and directing employees thru the turnstiles during start and end of shifts.
  • Complete daily operation, visitor logs and incident reports, including relevant information, observations, and issues addressed.
  • Answer phones and respond to other inquiries at the security office.  

Diversity of thought and experiences is fundamental when imagining the unimaginable. Certain skillsets/experiences are necessary; however, others can be developed along the way.

Required Qualifications:

  • Completed High School Diploma or GED Program.
  • Helpful, courteous attitude.
  • Must be able to work a variable schedule, 8-to-12-hour workdays, and a 4 or 5 -day work week.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficiency with computers, and aptitude to learn new software and systems.
  • Experience with security equipment and video monitoring systems.
  • One year of security, military, or law enforcement experience
  • Proactive team player who is a self-starter with constant attention to improvement.
  • Good problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to unexpected challenges.
  • Ability to remain extremely focused and organized with a high-attention to detail / high degree of accuracy.

Able to work with multiple priorities and people.

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:

  • Shop floor working environment.
  • Shop floor is non-climate controlled. Temperature fluctuates with outside environmental conditions, such as air temperature, radiant heat from sunlight, air movement, and humidity levels.
  •  Frequent exposure to high temperatures, including a hot and humid environment, especially during summer months.
  • Noise level is moderate with intervals of spikes
  • Required to wear safety glasses and utilize other safety equipment and personal protect equipment (PPE) while present on the production/shop floor.
  • Frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts, resins, fiberglass dust & cloths, epoxy, composites, and other chemicals. • Ability to walk or stand for extended periods of times.
  • Ability to regularly bend, stoop, kneel, twist, crouch, reach, climb, and lift or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Vision abilities required include close vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
  • Must be capable of standing and walking for most of their shift.

Shifts: 

Typically, this position works 8-12 hour workdays, 4 or 5 days a week.

*Overtime may be required based on scheduling needs. Boston Whaler reserves the right to adjust shifts and work times as business needs evolve. 

*An hourly premium shift differential is available for employees working night shift/weekend shifts. 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; and toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. 

The anticipated pay range for this position is $18.00 to $27.40 hourly. The actual base pay offered will vary depending on multiple factors including job-related knowledge/skills, relevant experience, business needs, and geographic location. 

At Brunswick, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top end of the salary range for their role. Compensation decisions are dependent upon the specifics of the candidate’s qualifications and the business context.
