General Summary:
Under the supervision of the Lead Security Officer, this position patrols the College of the Muscogee Nation (CMN) campus areas and enforces college policies to provide a safe environment for students and employees.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
The provisions of the following Entry Level Security Officer duties include, but are not limited to:
- Performs routine security duties in accordance with established Security Department guidelines.
- Regularly patrol all areas and property to ensure CMN students and personnel are in a secure environment.
- Monitor student behavior to ensure a safe learning and living environment.
- Warns violators of rule infractions.
- Enforces college student code of conduct and investigates incidents when necessary.
- Assists Shift Leader with other related duties.
- Writes incident reports, conducts interviews involving incidents that occur on campus.
- Coordinates with Shift Leader to assist with shift needs.
- Assist staff, students and visitors on campus with information or directions to various buildings or campuses.
- Prepare logs and reports as required.
- Assists in training security personnel, and ensures security devices and equipment are operational.
- Assists their Shift Leader with training for CMN faculty, staff and students on security related issues. Active shooter training, CPR, fire, and tornado.
- Physical effort requires walking, stooping and bending; occasional running, standing, breaking up fights, etc.; occasional lifting of lightweight objects (up to 25 pounds); will occasionally assist in restraining, handling or lifting individuals (from adolescents to adults); discomforts from exposure to less than optimal temperatures and air conditions, including outdoor activities; may deal with unpleasant situations, involving fights, weapons, potential incendiary devices, and hazardous materials; occasional exposure to dust and fumes and/or frequent operation of a vehicle.
- Must be able to meet and continue to meet any applicable tribal, state, county, and municipal licensing, permit requirements for security officers and armed security work, and specific protective device and weapons qualifications.
- Required to utilize rapid and effective judgment in responding to unusual or emergency situations using appropriate escalation of force level.
- Must be certified, or able to achieve certification in First Aid, CPR and AED.
- Participate in college committees as assigned.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Job Specifications:
- Minimum Requirements - High School Diploma or GED equivalent. Valid Oklahoma driver’s license. Possess a valid CLEET unarmed security guard license. 21 years of age with reputable character and no criminal record, good driving record, good written and oral skills. Must be able to pass background check.
- Preferred Requirements – Ability to speak the Muscogee Creek language is preferable but not a requirement. Possess a valid CLEET armed license. Native American and Veteran preference.
Licensure: Valid Oklahoma Driver’s License. Must possess at least a valid CLEET unarmed security guard license and be willing to obtain CLEET armed license within 60 days (probation period) after the date of hire.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit for extended periods while working at a computer workstation.
- Visual acuity to read and analyze data on computer screens and in printed reports.
- Manual dexterity for typing, data entry, and document preparation.
- Ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing.
- Occasional lifting and carrying of documents, reports, and office supplies up to 20 pounds.
- Ability to move between campus buildings to attend meetings and gather information.
- Capacity to work in an office environment with standard equipment, including computers, printers, copiers, and communication devices.
