Research Senior Technician - Radiation Oncology

Department:

Research Senior Technician will assist and support scientific investigation to study cancer as directed in the Comprehensive Cancer Center.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Sets up and operates laboratory equipment
  • Monitors research supply, including specimens, inventory and initiates procurement requests as needed.
  • Oversees and maintains accurate records of laboratory activities
  • Assists with training of junior research staff, and undergraduate and graduate students in research methods and equipment operation
  • Conducts library research on requested topics through researching current literature
  • Performs a variety of molecular, cellular, and biological research techniques and procedures including PCR reactions, gel electrophoresis, plasmid construction, cell cultures.
  • Sorts and processes tissue and blood samples
  • Performs routine procedures on lab animals
  • Records, consolidates and assists with analysis of research results
  • Summarizes data for inclusion in grant proposals and manuscripts
  • Prepares research progress reports
  • Assists in evaluating validity of data obtained from experimental procedures
     

Minimum Requirements

Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience required; 4 years of relevant experience required with High School diploma or GED, 2 years of relevant experience required with Associate's Degree, or 0 years of relevant experience required with Bachelor's Degree.
