Position Duties

You'll be responsible for:
  • Working alongside the forestry crew to keep public spaces clean, safe and beautiful
  • Assisting in planting, pruning and maintaining trees throughout the City of RC.
  • Operating and maintaining hand tools, power tools, light and heavy equipment.
  • Supporting the maintenance of landscaped areas, parks, paseos and medians in the City.
  • Learning industry best practices and safety procedures while working in the field.

RECRUITMENT SCHEDULE:

Minimum Qualifications

Education and/or Experience:
Graduation from high school or equivalent and one year of experience in construction or maintenance work or any combination of training and experience that provides the desired knowledge and abilities.
 
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of methods, common tools and equipment used in public works construction and maintenance work, basic safety precautions and procedures.  Ability to perform skilled and unskilled maintenance work; operate and perform routine maintenance and servicing of a variety of power-driven equipment and power tools; understand and follow verbal and written instructions; work safely and efficiently with others and assist in the training of less experienced workers; deal tactfully with the public.
 
Special Requirements:
Possession of or ability to obtain an appropriate California driver's license and a satisfactory driving record.

Successful candidate will be required to:

  • Complete a verification form designated by Immigration and Naturalization Service to certify that they are eligible for employment in the United States of America; and
  • Provide proof of a valid California driver's license and be insurable; and
  • Pass a pre-employment medical exam and drug/alcohol screening,
  • Pass a reference and background verification. References will not be contacted until mutual interest has been established. 
If hired, candidate will be required to complete a verification form designated by Immigration and Naturalization Service to certify that they are eligible for employment in the United States of America and furnish proof certifying legal authorization to work in the United States.
