Term of Employment: 12 months

Salary: Title II, State Salary Schedule, Local Supplement

Qualifications:

 

  • Social Worker License
  • Evidence of oral/written proficiency in English and Spanish

 

 

Essential Job Functions: 



  • Assists with enrollment of Hispanic students
  • Collaborates with school administrators, guidance counselors, nurses and other social workers in helping students and families make the best use of available opportunities and resources
  • Assists parents in utilizing school and community resources to help children maximize their educational abilities
  • Provides home visits, family support and training for at-risk families
  • Serves as a liaison between MCS and the Hispanic community
  • Assists/encourages Hispanic parental involvement in schools
  • Facilitates and supports parental understanding of students’ academic achievement and attendance as a means of dropout prevention
  • Translates important documents and ConnectEd information for LEA and schools
  • Interprets LEA and school parent meetings
  • Collaborates with counselors, administrators and social workers to reduce dropout of Hispanic students by assisting and supporting individual needs of Hispanic students and families
  • Collaborates with community agencies to provide support for Hispanic families
  • Adheres to the National Association of Social Workers code of ethical behavior and professional practice
  • Understands, and abides by federal, state and local laws, such as child protection/child abuse, special educations, attendance, education rights and privacy
  • Practices professional renewal through attending regional and national conferences, participating in professional organizations and remaining abreast of current research and literature
  • Attends meetings and training sessions as requested
  • Performs any additional duties as required or assigned by the supervisor

The major physical and cognitive requirements listed below are applicable to this job classification within Moore County Schools.

Work in this classification is considered light physical work requiring the exertion of up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to move objects.

 

Must be able to:
