After Dark Program at LVTI
An “After Dark” designation allows school districts offering Chapter 74 vocational technical education programs to partner with other school districts, or other schools within a single school district, to provide Chapter 74 vocational technical education opportunities that would not otherwise exist.
- Partnership between traditional high schools and schools with established Chapter 74 programs and facilities
- Altered schedule for participating students
- Core academics at comprehensive high school
- 900+ total hours of Chapter 74 instruction at technical school
- Alignment with regional economic and workforce development priorities or other evidenced labor market demand
POSITION SUMMARY
Lynn Vocational Technical Institute is seeking TWO part-time Health Assisting instructor to work with upper classmen enrolled in the After Dark program, Monday-Thursday from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm for the 2025-2026 school year.
QUALIFICATIONS
- MA DESE-certified as a Chapter 74 instructor
- MA Vocational licensure in Health Assisting OR meet the following criteria:
- Possession of current Massachusetts license as a registered nurse (RN)
- Bachelor’s degree or higher related to the subject matter and skills to be taught
- Three years of recent full-time employment directly related to Health Assisting
SKILLS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Deliver instruction in accordance with the approved Ch. 74 curriculum; ensure lessons are prepared with clear objectives and are effectively communicated to support optimal learning outcomes.
- Assist students in learning career-area subject matter that adheres to educational frameworks and skills that aid in their development as capable and responsible individuals; motivate students to maintain standards of conduct and work ethic.
- Ensure that direct teacher instructional support is provided to all students, including those in general education, special education, 504, and EL programs.
- Foster a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and encourages positivity.
- Maintain and record student attendance and grades; submit data to the program director and/or guidance counselors to update Power School (SIS).
- Participate in professional development opportunities and remain current with the latest developments in the field.
- Undertake any other relevant teaching duties as assigned.
An offer of employment is contingent upon successful completion of pre-employment physical, including a drug test, National fingerprint-based Criminal Background Check (NCBC) and Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI). All MUST be completed PRIOR to the start of employment.
