Responsibilities:

Position Summary:

The OR Tech performs the nursing process in conjunction with an RN, through assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of safe, therapeutic care for an assigned group of patients, appropriate to patient age, in a supervised environment. Performs the nursing process for patients in more complex situations with assistance and supervision. He/she knows the philosophy and objectives of the Nursing Department and supports those premises. This position treats/cares for patients of all ages.

Qualifications:

Minimum:

  • Graduation from an accredited OR Tech program required.
  • Documentation of Operating Room Technician training.
  • Knowledge of scrubbing skills and instrumentation.
  • Knowledge/demonstrated ability in care and sterilization requirements of instruments and trays.
  • Ability to read English.
  • Ability to read computer/monitor screens and computer printouts.
  • Ability to perform mathematical calculations.
  • High level of concentration and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work with a team, prioritize work and make decisions regarding patient care, implements nursing actions in conjunction with an RN Able to interact appropriately with others.
  • Current BLS certification required (must be certified through the American Heart Association)

Preferred:

  • One (1) year of experience as an OR Technician in an acute general hospital preferred
