Job Title: Homebound Teacher
Part Time, 20 hrs/wk
Wage/Hour Status: Hourly
Reports to: Special Education Coordinator
Pay: $30 per/hour
Dept./School: District Wide
Primary Purpose:
Provide special or general education students who are confined to the home for a temporary
amount of time with learning activities and experiences designed to help them fulfill their
potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Accommodate or modify
instructional material when needed per a student’s IEP or Section 504. Prepare provided
lessons and other instructional materials to student ability levels. Work with a student in a home
or community setting as assigned.
Education/Certification:
Bachelor’s degree from accredited university
Valid Texas teaching certificate
SPED Certification
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of special needs of students in assigned area
Knowledge of Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) Committee process and Individual
Education Plan (IEP) goal setting process and implementation
General knowledge of curriculum and instruction
Experience:
At least one year student teaching or approved internship
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Instructional Strategies Collaborate with students, parents, and other members of staff for each student assigned.
Implement an instructional program for assigned students and show written evidence of sessions and preparation as required.
Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect understanding of the learning styles and needs of students assigned.
Work cooperatively with classroom teachers to accommodate or modify regular curricula as needed.
Participate in 504 or ARD Committee meetings if required.
Conduct assessment of student learning styles and use results to plan for instructional activities.
Employ a variety of instructional techniques and media to meet the needs and capabilities of each student assigned.
Use technology in teaching/learning process.
