Job Description:
Together is transforming it's Tech platforms and implementing the latest technology. We are driving AI across the business to improve our processes, ensure the best possible customer experience and allow our teams to work smarter. As such test strategy needs to adapt!
Working closely with two peer Test Managers, you will have responsibility for one of our three trains and play a critical leadership role in ensuring the quality and reliability of software delivery across Agile Teams. You will be responsible for defining and executing the test strategy, overseeing quality governance, and ensuring that testing activities are aligned with business goals and technical standards. Acting as the single point of contact for test assurance within the train, you will work closely with cross-functional teams including Product Management and Engineering to embed quality throughout the delivery lifecycle.
What you will be doing:
- Establish and maintain testing frameworks, policies, and best practices to ensure consistency, traceability, and auditability across all testing activities.
- Act as the primary contact for test assurance within the release train.
- Coordinate with feature teams (including third-party testers) on test planning, execution, and defect management.
- Monitor test progress, triage defects, and escalate risks and blockers as needed.
- Track and report on key quality metrics (e.g., test coverage, defect leakage, automation adoption).
- Lead UAT planning and coordination across releases.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement in testing practices across the team.
- Contribute to the test community of practice and champion quality across the organisation
- Champion the adoption of modern testing tools, automation, and practices to improve efficiency, coverage, and speed of delivery
You will be a strategic thinker managing testing across multiple teams and vendors. This role is hands-off from a testing perspective but with accountability for test planning, execution, and reporting, as well as for driving continuous improvement in testing practices. You will also take ownership of incidents within your technical area, ensuring root cause analysis is conducted, defect leakage is accurately measured and that lessons learned are translated into process improvements. Additionally, you will define and maintain a test coverage model for the team, ensuring traceability and transparency of quality metrics.
This is an ideal opportunity for a quality-focused leader who thrives in a dynamic and exciting, agile environment and is passionate about delivering robust, scalable, and customer-centric solutions.
We encourage you to apply if you have a combination of the following skills and experience:
- Agile Experience and Expertise: Deep understanding of Agile methodologies, with hands-on experience managing testing across Agile teams
- Test Leadership: Proven ability to lead test strategy, planning, and execution across multiple teams and vendors, with a focus on risk-based testing, measurable quality KPIs, and cross-team alignment in complex delivery environments.
- Stakeholder Management: Strong communicator with a proven ability to influence senior stakeholders, resolve conflicts, and drive consensus on quality and risk mitigation strategies across Product, Architecture, and Delivery teams.
- Test Governance and Quality Assurance: Proven ability to implement and enforce quality standards, entry/exit criteria, and risk-based testing approaches to ensure consistent delivery quality.
- Defect and Risk Management: Skilled in defect triage, root cause analysis, and escalation of risks and blockers to ensure timely resolution and minimal impact to delivery timelines.
- Metrics and Reporting: Experience in defining, tracking, and reporting on key quality metrics such as test coverage, defect leakage, automation adoption, and test progress.
- Automation Integration: Familiarity working with and utilising CD:CD pipelines
- Non-Functional Testing: Understanding of performance, security, and other non-functional testing requirements, with experience in planning and validating NFRs.
- Mentorship and Coaching: Ability to mentor and support feature team testers, promoting best practices and knowledge sharing across the team.
If you feel you have some of the skills mentioned above, but not all, please do still apply and we would be happy to have a further discussion with you in regards to your suitability for the role.
