Sub-Function Description: Defines and executes production plans in a safe and quality manner to deliver products on time, including assembly, equipment operations, manufacturing processes, handling, and packaging.
Organizational Impact: Works to achieve day-to-day objectives with limited impact on area. Delivers level responsibilities following a defined standard output or set of procedures. Work consists of tasks that are very routine, or well-defined, with specific instructions to achieve standardized solutions.
Knowledge & Experience: The Assembly Lead person is responsible for directing all of Assembly Department’s employees in the correct and safe operation and use of all machinery, equipment, and tools. Directs these employees in the most expedient manner.
Essential Functions | Accountabilities | Performance Measures
- Assures that all personnel have their work assigned, scheduled, and rotated on a regular basis.
- Responsible for adequately explaining all the necessary phases of any assembly operations so that each person has a clear understanding of what must be done, how to do it, and what must be done next.
- Assures that all operations are performed in an efficient and expeditious manner for maximum effectiveness. Sets up additional assignments and workstations before Assembler is moved.
- Responsible for training and directing all personnel to produce profitably and to perform all the tasks required with thorough knowledge of assembly operations.
- Ensures intercommunication of information pertinent to production, operations, plant, and employee protection and welfare.
- Responsible for maintaining records of production, tests, and/or other operations as required.
- Responsible for proper scanning, getting the correct POCR to match label on finished goods or work in process, then making sure pallets are moved to the proper location for shipment to the correct Distribution Center.
- Responsible for evaluating personnel under his/her direction for the purpose of preparing reviews, action notices, disciplinary notices, change of status, etc.
- Responsible for all supplies, materials, hardware, etc., and the necessary inventory required, and that all these are properly stored and accounted for. Assure that all hardware at workstations is stored neatly and not mixed (bolts, screws, etc)
- Responsible for consistently inspecting all parts as they are produced and assembled to ensure a high-quality product consistent with company standards and maintain a logbook on all problems encountered to establish a history for problem areas.
- Accepts all work assignments and is responsible for their scheduled completion. Accurate feedback is essential (verbal and written)
- Utilizes department personnel to ensure and maintain a neat, clean, and orderly working department daily. The 55 standards are met daily.
- Responsible for obtaining the assistance of appropriate members of management as soon as conditions indicate the need for corrective action, and any undesirable condition or for knowledge or ability beyond his/her own. Failure to act accordingly may result in costly waste or damage.
- Work with feeder departments to ensure product flow to the line.
- Shift hand-off.
- Utilize the department scheduling board.
- Ability to solve practical problems on the floor.
Communication & Influence: Communicates with contacts typically within the immediate work unit on matters that typically involve obtaining or providing information requiring little explanation or interpretation.
Problem Solving & Complexity: Problems and issues faced are routine and solutions clearly prescribed. Follows a well-established and familiar set of activities and/or process to derive a solution. May have responsibility for checking data and information for minor changes.

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
