Serves as the Cost/DOE Reporting Team Lead providing oversight to the Cost/General Ledger, Accounts Receivable, and Treasury groups within the Accounting Division. The Cost/General Ledger group includes DOE cost reporting, capital accounting, and benefits accounting.
Responsibilities
Provide guidance to staff and help resolve issues related to cost processing, benefits accounting, capitalization criteria, receivables, cash management, including interfacing with other accounting functions (payroll, payables, travel).
Perform tasks related to the reconciliation of the general ledger activity with information reported in the Standard Accounting and Reporting System (STARS) to DOE.
Provide detailed explanations of complex financial analyses to internal and external customers.
Perform financial procedures and prepare financial reports and plans on a periodic or ad hoc basis utilizing the SRNL accounting system and various databases.
Prepare and assist with month-end and year-end reporting requirements related to functional areas.
Identify process risk areas and internal control needs for processes.
Identify and conduct processes to continuously improve financial procedures, analysis, and reporting systems.
Participate in and complete special projects and/or other duties as assigned.
Communicate effectively with Accounting team members, internal company customer organizations, and external customers to resolve issues in general finance areas.
Exhibit good oral and written communication skills to effectively and accurately present information and express ideas.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance and 7 – 10 years’ experience.
Requires proficiency in applying accounting principles, policies, procedures, and knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
Preferred Qualifications
Accounting related experience with DOE or DOE contractor.
Master’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
