Join Our Team as Director of Accounting
Salary Range: Between $80,000 to $100,000 annually (and based on experience)

Easterseals Florida is looking for a strategic and detail-oriented Director of Accounting to lead our finance operations and help drive the financial sustainability of our nonprofit organization. This is a pivotal leadership role where you’ll oversee accounting workflows, donor and grant management, and ensure compliance with financial regulations and best practices.
As a key member of our finance team, you’ll be responsible for maintaining financial accuracy, transparency, and efficiency across all operations. Your expertise will help shape the financial future of our organization and support our mission-driven work.
What You’ll Do
- Partner with the CFO to develop and implement finance policies and procedures aligned with GAAP and nonprofit standards
- Lead the accounting function, ensuring alignment with the organization’s mission and long-term financial strategy
- Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes to deliver timely and accurate financial statements
- Manage the day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and bank reconciliations
- Supervise and mentor accounting staff, building a collaborative and mission-driven finance team
- Support the annual budget process with detailed financial data and variance analysis
- Assist in preparation of financial projections, budgets, and forecasts
- Coordinate and prepare for external audits, tax filings (Form 990), 1099 filings and regulatory reporting
- Lead grant accounting and reporting, ensuring full compliance with funding requirements
- Identify and implement process improvements, system upgrades, and efficiencies to strengthen financial operations
- Foster a culture of excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement
- Strengthen internal controls and safeguard organizational assets
- Collaborate cross-functionally to provide financial insights and support strategic initiatives
What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred)
- Extensive experience in nonprofit financial management and compliance
- Proven track record managing audits and grant reporting
- Deep understanding of accounting principles, budgeting, and financial reporting
- Proficiency in financial software (e.g., QuickBooks, MIP, Excel)
- Strong leadership, communication, and team-building skills
- Analytical mindset with excellent problem-solving abilities
