Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical PCU – Charge RN, Full-time, Nights

We’re looking for a qualified Registered Nurse like you to join our department in a Charge Nurse role

Work location: Texas Health Fort Worth, 1304 Pennsylvania Ave, Fort Worth, TX 76104

Work hours: Full-time, Night shift

Department highlights:

  • 28-bed Medical IMCU
  • Intermediate level of care to a wide variety of medical patients at a 3:1 patient to nurse ratio. 
  • This patient population requiring specialized monitoring and interventions, includes patient diagnosis such as: diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA), respiratory compromised patients that require specialized equipment including continuous respiratory interventions, home ventilation systems, and tracheostomy care, multi-system organ failure, respiratory distress, sepsis, hematology, GI Bleeds, Renal/Liver Failure, Acid-Base and Electrolyte Imbalances, and cardiac abnormalities.  
  • Medication management includes continuous and titratable IV medications to support the intermediate care population. 
  • MAGNET facility
  • Level I Trauma Center 
  • Primary Heart Attack Center PHAC

  • Robust Unit Based Council (UBC) and engaged leadership team

Here’s what you need

  • Associate Degree in Nursing required; BSN preferred
  • Current RN licensure or compact licensure recognized by the Texas Board of Nursing upon hire
  • BCLS – prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly
  • ACLS – within 90 days of hire - expiration date greater than 3 months preferred
  • CPI – Crisis Prevention Intervention Training – within 90 days of hire
  • 1-year experience as a registered nurse in an acute care setting required
  • 2-years’ experience as a registered nurse in an acute care setting preferred
  • Current PCU experience strongly preferred

In addition to the required qualifications, a successful RN will 

  • demonstrate a high degree of confidentiality, positive interpersonal skills, and ability to function in a fast-paced environment.
  • maintain a positive, customer-focused attitude toward patients
  • possess a strong work ethic and always display a high level of professionalism
  • have basic computer skills using medical management application systems

As a Charge Nurse you will
• communicate and collaborate with all members of the health care team
• support and actively participate in shared governance/councils
• be committed to developing your individual knowledge and skills, as well as advancing the profession of nursing and engaging in lifelong learning/development.
• evaluates the effectiveness of interventions 
• directly assists leadership on a particular unit or units and shift, by offering staff guidance and support, maintaining a clean and safe work environment and ensuring unit operational tasks are completed.
